Marianne Weil received her B.A. (sculpture) from Goddard College, VT and M.F.A. (sculpture) from the School of Visual Arts, NY. She continued her art education in Pietrasanta, Italy as an apprentice to both foundry artisans and stone carvers. Prior to her appointment at the College of Staten Island, Weil taught sculpture and metal casting at the State University of New York at Stony Brook (1997-2006) and at Haverford College, PA (2006-2009). Weil is an Associate Professor of Sculpture and Studio Art and has been the recipient of many grants, awards, and has been invited to attend numerous artist residencies. (Orient)
Scott McIntire is another one of our very exciting North Fork artists whose work as been shown in galleries and museums all over the country. He began his career as an advertsing art director a photographer and a fine painter in Portland, Oregon. Scott describes his artistic expression as being ‘deeply rooted in his experiences in nature’, but don’t expect to see a landscape here! Scott’s work his electric and exhilarating while paying homage to the natural world.
